Style and rock music: related nouns?

A couple of days ago, I was sitting on my computer visiting the US Rolling Stone’s magazine official webpage, and I read an article that I found really interesting. The article talked about the importance of the style in the nowadays rock music, and the so-called “style Icons” in rock.

It’s a known situation the importance of the looks and of the image in each part of the entertainment industry, not only in America, but also in the world. And even though we can affirm this, it’s also a known factor that the rock music always had different parameters of comparison between the image that people thought rockers should have and those ones that should belong to other music artist from a different genre.

But now, leather jackets and tight jeans are left behind for a new wave of rockers that also, lead the runways of the whole world and set the trends of new kinds of fashion. Today, we not only can enjoy the music but also we can delight our eyes and fashion sense with artists like Kanye, like Amy Winehouse, that base their music in a perfect style of fashion. There are also many examples of artists that besides of selling records and going on tour, they also take advantage of their popularity by releasing their own clothing line, like Diddy and it’s famous brand “Sean John”, 50 cent with his very own “G-unit” or even MK and Ashley, the Olsen sisters, that left behind their 4-year-old image to build a millionaire empire of many articles, including of course, haute couture clothing and shoes. Also, new indie artist like MGMT (read management) worked like an inspiration for famous designers like Gucci for it new Fall/Winter 009 collection.

So, this theory works like an explanation to understand why the image it’s so important nowadays in the music, where not only is important to hear something good, when the sound also enters to your body through your eyes.
